Recycling Milk Cans - Upcycled Nite Lite

A bottle lamp workshop by Sustainable Singapore was organised on 26 Dec 2020.

The event called for upcycling Plastic Milk Bottles into a Nite - Lite. I modified the outlook with materials I had at home

Things needed for recycling the bottles

1. A plastic bottle

2. LED light string and sticker( provided by Terra sg )

3. A pair of scissors

4. Paint / Stickers / Jute

5. Sponge

THE PROCESS

1. Take a clean empty bottle / can of milk.

2. Pierce a hole just at the base of handle just an inch or two above the base.

3. Insert the non switch end of LED string from the pierced end and keep pulling it out from the mouth until you reach the cable part of the light.

4. Using a metal roller or a marker, keep coiling the LED light and keep pushing it in bottle until you reach the beginning part of the LED.

5. You may choose to leave a little part of light hanging outside bottle and cap it loosely.

6. You may now decorate the bottle with Jute/ Stickers/ Paint. I coiled the jute around and let a little bit of light outside.

Give a new lease of life or should we say Lite Up the Nite to the bottle just going to the bin.
