My Simple Sustainable Actions to Restore Earth
Earth Day is fast approaching and this year's theme is to Restore Earth. Every year, on 22nd April, earth day is celebrated to mark a movement that was started in 1970. While it shouldn't be just one day to think and act towards restoring the earth but it be a beginning for ideas and approaches makeshift towards restoration of our planet.
Some simple sustainable actions that I have tried and you could do at your end to make a difference.
The Fridge is a great tool to store food and minimise food wastage but turns out that it is the biggest culprit in food wastage.
Clean, Sort and Label the foods in the Fridge Regularly. Prioritise what needs to be cooked or consumed first. Store food correctly.
Buy and Cook what you can finish. Turn leftovers into something new. Donate the Excess.
Hold a 5-8 minute Jam session as reminder to save water.
Make a playlist for a week and rejoice and reward yourself for conserving water.
Get into the Habit of switching off lights when moving out off room.
Put $1 for each penalty in the Piggy Bank. Better still, remind younger ones in homes to catch you red handed. They will not just love it but get you in good habit.
Get into the Habit carrying your own reusable cutlery and make changes to a throw away culture.
Including more plant based meals in your diet has less deteriorating impact on the environment.
Swap clothes with a friend or upcycle to create new clothes. Be stylish, not wasteful.
Try alternate ways like making a DIY Cleaner, oils, candles and even composting. Cleaning has never been that easy, inexpensive and refreshing.
Bringing your own reusable bag can cut down on emissions and reduce the waste.
Carry your own water bottle and refill water off the water dispensers. Cut down on Plastic waste. Promise yourself to refrain from buying more water bottles.
Make a difference right in your backyard garden, balcony, front yard or wherever possible.
Pot a plant from food scraps. Nothing feels good than producing your own yield and consuming it too.
Ditch the culprit. This is especially important considering most of the waste
in homes is plastic.
Replace wherever possible with glass containers, jute wrappers, cloth and
recycled paper.
