In Talks with Eco-Teers jointly with NLB singapore

Volunteering at the National Library Singapore has been the most rewarding experience. It has opened a new window of having peace and also allowed me to empower others with the knowledge I have gained over years. Through volunteering, I have been able to share my ideas and sustainable practices with others and even if I changed one mind to become less wasteful, I have accomplished success. It has allowed me to dive deep into the topics that are most interesting to me. Over a period of time, this pandemic has just accelerated the community sharing via the online platform and made it more accessible to everyone.

As a teacher for over 15 years, my motto has been to nurture the young minds and facilitate them to make a difference in their lives. I am a passionate advocate of Climate Justice and Action and sustainability and inspire a love of the environment. I have been fortunate to work with organisations who are passionately concerned for care for the environment and have a commitment to Sustainable future. This has enabled me to become conscious and reflect on my own lifestyle’s impact on the environment. It is imperative as an educator as we are charged with the collective consciousness of young people to address some big challenges of our time and build a sustainable future through the transformative power of education.

Through volunteering session in August 2021, I shared my knowledge debunking the myths around sustainability and recycling and sharing common easy practices at home to provide a head start in the direction of changing habits and lifestyle.

One common practice I have had since 2020 is making my own Floor cleaner from the Soapnut berries.

For the second session in September, I did a simple upcycling craft of no sewing DIY cloth bag from old T shirts. It was well received and applauded by the participants.
